Youth & Volunteer Manager

We run a vibrant and growing Youth and Volunteer department, and are now looking for an exceptional person to fill this fulltime position in Hawke’s Bay.

You will support our Youth and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Youth4Youth facilitators and Youth Education Tutor. You will continue building relationships with the high schools, other community organizations, the youth workers collective and other stakeholders.

Together with the Youth Co-Ordinator you will recruit, induct, train and support our Y-Force leaders who volunteer in many of our programmes.

  • You have a real passion for working with youth, you are skilled and enthusiastic, you have a “can do” attitude and you want to make a difference.
  • You have a background in youth work and/or sport and recreation focusing on youth. 
  • You have experience in staff management.
  • You understand budgets and know how to achieve them.
  • You hold NZQA 4098 or are prepared to gain this qualification to be able to assess students in our youth education programme.

YMCA Tauranga announces new CEO

The YMCA Tauranga is pleased to announce the appointment of Ric Balfour as its next Chief Executive Officer. He will take over from Amy S. Thaler, who will be leaving in January to pursue new challenges in her home country of the USA.

YMCA Shakespear Lodge re-opens

November 30, 2011

The re-opening of Shakespear Open Sanctuary on December 1 heralds a new era for the hard working SOSSI volunteers, park staff and Hibiscus Coast residents. YMCA Shakespear Lodge also re-opens December 1 and has an Open Day on December 4, from 12 noon onwards. This also marks the belated 101st birthday of the Shakespear Homestead. YMCA opening a whanau-friendly childhood centre in Papakura

YMCA Auckland is gearing up for the opening of their new Early Learning Centre for the Papakura community on Monday. The centre is based in Mansell Senior School and has received an official license for providing childhood services from the Ministry of Education.
