YMCA Supports Myanmar Victims

New Zealand YMCAs have joined with other YMCAs around the world to support the victims of the recent Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar. So far YMCAs in New Zealand have pledged $11,000.
The YMCAs in Myanmar have themselves suffered damage from the recent Cyclone Nargis but even so, they are making their facilities available as shelter for those in their communities who have lost everything. Just as we did in the terrible Tsumani in 2006, the YMCA globally has sprung into action, using its local resources strengthened with international YMCA support to provide immediate assistance to their communities. Details remain sketchy as communications with Myanmar are sporadic but YMCA New Zealand is working through the office of the Asia and Pacific Alliance of YMCAs in Hong Kong to channel support. If you want to assist by making a donation, please contact your local YMCA or the YMCA New Zealand National Office.
