YMCA new National President

Russell Leech has been appointed National President of YMCA New Zealand, replacing retiring President John Flowers. Mr Leech, a Timaru businessman and accountant, has been associated with the YMCA for more almost 30 years. He has held senior management positions in local government, sports administration and business and has a passion for rugby – both as a player and as a referee.
“I am proud of my long association with the YMCA, which has for more than 150 years, provided continuous support to New Zealand communities” said Mr Leech. “It is an honour to be elected as the National President of such a strong and dynamic organisation with plans to provide even greater support to New Zealanders into the future”.

Russell Leech is married and has two children and two grandchildren.
